Dear Blues Fans,

The 36th Annual R&B Picnic will feature food vendors for the first time. This change was necessitated by several factors. Nonetheless, the musical quality and variety are still intact with all artist making their R&B Picnic debuts and several making their area debuts; there are two stages (11 sets of live music for the day). The pastoral setting of historically preserved farmland is the same. Vendors were carefully chosen to provide variety: Fat Ricks BBQ (ribs, brisket, hamburgers, hot dogs, catfish, etc). DeLorenzo's The Burg (pizza, meatball sandwiches, hot and sweet sausage sandwiches). Philly Fry and Cannoli Cafe (gourmet fries and loaded fried potato combinations). Philly Bites (finger and snack foods with international flavor). Complimentary ice and bottles of water for personal coolers will still be provided free of charge for hydration. Two years ago the BCBS Board

came to the crossroads as to the R&b Picnics future. Change had to be made or the BCBS Picnic would cease to be. Alex Hastie, BCBS Co-Founder and architect of the R&B Picnic, has relocated to Florida with his wife Donna after a lifetime in Levittown. Area blues fans and hundreds of musicians owe Alex a debt of gratitude to Alex not only for envisioning the the Picnic, but also for his 41years of dedication to the BCBS of presenting and preserving the blues. Alex, although " retired," will continue to advise the BCBS Board. The donation for admission has been lowered this year. The price is comparable to other events where vendors sell food and even lower in some cases. The R&B Picnic is older than every blues festival in Pennsylvania and just about every other blues festival in North America. As always, the BCBS Boaed counts on you and your friends to keep the R&B Picnic tradition going. Thanks for your past and future support. This years R&B Picnic is dedicated to the late great Eddie Shaw who first played for the BCBS in 1981 and was last seen at the 2013 R&B Picnic. We told you when and will see you then !
